096 | The ruins of an ancient building, occupied as a Castle or stronghold in the early part of the 17th century; nothing but the walls remain now which are of great thickness and of similar construction to the generality of such buildings of the feudal times. It is situate on the south western point of the island of Gairsay and facing the Mainland. The modern farmstead of Langskaill is built adjoining the Castle forming part of the grounds of the ancient residence. It is the property of Colonel D. Balfour of Balfour & Trenabie. |
