There are a great number of small or wild sheep on the Island and it astonishes the stranger to see these small animals feeding upon the Seaweed along the shore which forms their principal food. The whole Island with the exception of the north end is surrounded by a stone or Sea-wall which is often knocked down by the Sea and the tenants are bound to rebuild it. The whole Island is the property of William Traill Esquire of Woodwick M.D. and in quoad civilia [ underlined] ecclesiastical reckoning belongs to the parish quoad Sacra[underlined]. The parish Church is a parliamentary one. There is also a Free Church and a good public School.
