001 | This name applies to a low lying portion of land along the Moray Firth extending into Ardersier Ph [Parish] but there under a different name "Carse of Ardersier". It is partly arable, partly moorland, and a portion of it is under water at spring tides; a portion along the shore is composed of shingle and bent, on the west & south sides it is enclosed by a high natural bank, the whole Carse is thought to have been at one time under the waters of the Moray Firth. It is the property of the Earl of Cawdor. |
