013; 017; 018; 023 The Parish of Rothes is in the presbytery of Aberlour and Synod of Moray, Patrons, the Crown and the Earl of Moray. It is bounded on the North by the Parishes of St Andrews Lhanbryd and Speymouth, on the West by the Parish of Birnie, on the South by the Parish
of Knockando and on the East by Boharm and
Banffshire. The Parish of Rothes is Situated
in the Counties of Elgin and Banff. The portion
in the county Elgin contains about 19,234 Statute Acres and is situated on the Western side of the Parish the remainder of the Parish which is in the Co. [County] Banff contains about [ ] Statute Acres, The Village of Rothes and Parish Church is in the portion in Elginshire There are no detached portions of the Parish of Rothes in these or any other Counties, neither are there detached portions of any other Parish within its limits. The prevailing soil along the Spey is a deep fertile alluvium and that on the higher ground is principally moss earth. Sandstone and Granite is found in the Parish.
