011.10 | This name applies to the ruins of Kinloss Abbey situated at the head of the Bay of Findhorn, there are but few traces of the once stately edifice remaining, namely the East gable together with small portion which appears to have been used as dormitorys or cells & some old walls It was founded by King David I December 19th 1150 and confirmed by papal bull 1174. Edward I resided here six weeks in the autumn of the year 1303. and a detachment of his Army remained for a longer period" (See statistical account of Kinloss parish). It was destroyed in 1651 & 1652. "Alex Brodie of Lethen, then Proprietor of Kinloss sold the Stones for the purpose of building the Citadel of Inverness" (See Rev [Reverend] L.
