001.15 This name is applied to the Harbour in Connection with the village of Burghead situated at the South west end of the village It is protected by a strong wall upon the south an two small piers constructed of wood which forms the entrance renders vessels secure when once entered. The chief import trade here is Coal and Bones, the latter being conveyed to the Bone Mill at Forres, and the export is Timber, Fish, and Stones. Vessels drawing about ten feet of water enter here without difficulty, and the average number entering yearly is about Six Hundred
