The boundary between the properties of the Earl of Fife and Sir. William G. Cumming, Bart. [Baronet] Altyre forms its western boundary. On every other side it does not extend beyond Dallas parish. It is intersected by the River Lossie and is cultivated for a considerable distance on either side of its Banks. The remainder is principally heather. There is no village in the district but it posesses a school and post office. Property of the Earl of Fife, Duff House Banffshire "Upon the annexation of Altyre part of this parish to the parish of Rafford, Easter Kellas church lands, for above a hundred years the heritage of Farquhason of Kellas, a family now extinct, was annexed to this parish (Dallas) in 1657; and the disjunction and annexation were ratified in parliament in 1661" Extract from New Statistical Account, 1842.
