011.03 Some years ago the stones from this cairn were used for repairing or metalling the turnpike road which passes near the spot, but sufficient rubbish and small stones remain to mark the exact spot. and to give a good idea of its size and extent, it appears to have been about 18 Yards in Diameter and of a corresponding height, it is Supposed to have been built in Commemoration of a battle fought between the Picts and Scots, and is called in the Charter of Burgie (Rune Pictorum" The Cairn of the Picts," in a charter dated 1567 it is called the "Cairn of Kilbuiack," but is now universally known as Moray's Cairn.
