A large and handsome built Edifice erected in 1811.12 at a cost of about £33000, it has a recessed vestibule supported by four columns and two pilasters of the Ionic order, 35 ft. [feet] high raised, on steps, and surmounted by a balustrade, The vestibule is flanked by wings, of a plain massive style of architecture, and from behind it, on a basement 48 ft. [feet] square, rises a dome with a lantern and cross. The interior is well fitted out with galleries seats &c. and is calculated to afford accommodation for 1,600 persons. No. of sittings let 662, and a few reserved seats for the session &c. |
