An Old and very irregular built village, situated on the Water of Leith a little West of Dean Bridge, The houses are badly built one or two stories high and covered with tile, It consists of a number of small Lanes or streets none of which are known by any names, In it is a Distillery a Skinnery, and a number of large Flour Mills belonging to the corporation of Bakers, and dating as far back as the time of David I.
