[Situation] At the Eastern end of the village of Water of Leith A handsome plain structure surmounted by a small square tower, erected in 1844 at a cost of about £1700. The interior is well fitted with galleries &c. sufficient to accommodate about 1000 persons with seats. The minister is the Revd [Reverend] Thomas Brown whose stipends is £130 from the Free Church sustentation Fund, besides a supplement from the congregation. In a lower story of the building underneath the body of the church is held the congregational school attended on an average by about 160 scholars. It is taught by a school master & schoolmistress. |
