[Situation] Comprehending the whole of the City of Edinburgh.
A large parish which includes the City of Edinburgh. Its boundary being identical with the City Boundary. It therefore includes all places within the Municipal Boundary with the exception of a few small detached portions of other parishes. There are also several subdivision or parishes which are recognised as parishes in the Ecclesiastical Courts and the Ministers of these parishes enjoy all the privileges of Parish Ministers viz. [namely] Right to sit & vote as Members of the General Assembly etc besides these Ecclesiastical parishes there are several Quoad Sacra Churches or Chapels with districts assigned which are also a kind of Ecclesiastical parishes but the Ministers of these parishes have not the privileges of parish ministers but in the Law Courts & all Civil purposes; Local laxation etc the Parish of the City of Edinburgh only is recognised. N.B. The borough [burgh] of Canongate although properly part of the City of Edinburgh forms no part of the Parish of the City of Edinburgh |

Each share consisted of £10. It is not connected with any church or religious Community. It is managed by a board of Directors chosen from among the shareholders. The school fees are paid to a treasurer & [--] or deposited in a bank from which the Professors are paid From the surplus funds th [there] accumulated a dividend or profits has been divided two or three times among the Shareholders which shows that it is more than self supporting.
