"Although all the authorities are for the spelling Foxe's Lane yet I would suggest the propriety of disagreeing with this authority as I believe it is from Fox a family name. Therefore "Fox's Lane" would be the proper orthography & would be better to engrave on plan."

Relating to Riddle's Close - There is a note indicating that the apostrophe is "not on plan".
