"the Preceptory one of the boundaries is described as " the churchyard of St Anthony's" From this we
"think that the position assigned to it on the map is not altogether correct that it fronted the Kirkgate
"we think very likely but it was placed at some distance back from it probably as far back as St. Anthony's
"Lane which then of course would have no existence. The author of the history of Leith writing in 1827 says
"with reference to our subject no vestige of it now remains excepting Some old vaults ('if' scored out) situated in Mr. Giles the
"brewers premises how they could be any else than old vaults if they formed any part of the original building
"we shall not pause to enquire but proceed to ('enquire' scored out) notice that Dr. Robertson in his recently published work
"gives a view of part of a building in Mirrilees Close, Yardheads, which without note or explanation he designates
"Remains of the Preceptory of St. Anthony, The remains referred to do certainly look as if they had been preserved
"and supported by a building of modern erection against which if we may so speak they are plastered but
"it is a mere assumption which there is nothing to justify to assign them the honour of having formed part
"of the preceptor. Over the doorway of the Staircase leading to the building to which the remains are attached
