A large Poorhouse, erected at the joint expense of the Parishes of South Leith, and North Leith, for the reception of the poor of both Parishes. It is Constructed on the same principal as those in the City of Edinbro' [Edinburgh]. It is governed by a committee of 16 men from amongst whom a President is selected. The buildings are pretty extensive, are partly in the Elizabethan Style of architecture, and well arranged for the purpose it was built,
