[Situation] On the South side of Bernard Street. near Kings Wark An old house situated at the Northwest end of the White Horse Inn traditionally pointed out as one of Bernard Lindsay's Taverns, now commonly Known by Bernards Nook, Bernard Lindsay was Chamber-chiel to James VI of Scotland, on whom James bestowed the Kings Wark, an, adjecent spacious building in which he allowed him to Keep four taverns, whether this belonged to the Kings Wark and was one of the taverns mentioned it [is] not Known, but it is the oppinion of many that Bernards Nook and Kings Wark were at one time joined, altho' now isolated, |
