[Civil Engineer] [situation] Northern light on the East Pier A small lighthouse having a stationary dark red light it is the northern one of five lights on the East Pier, and is lighted at night when the depth of water increases in the harbour to 10 feet and extinguished when decreased below the same depth.

[Situation] Between the East and West Piers This name applies to the channel of Water of Leith from the Timber Bason to its confluence with Low water, it affords good anchorage, and Landing. to vessels of considerable burden. The centre of the channel is the boundary between the parishes of North and South Leith.
