018 A tolerably sized hill, arable upon it[s] east and north sides, & wooded upon [the] west, where it overhangs the Esk. it is upon the farm of Pomathorn, its proper name is very doubtful, it [is] pronounced "Ootershill". The Rev [Reverend] Mr. [Moncrieff] recommends Outters Hill and says [it] could not have been "Otters Hill" as no otters [have] ever known to have been up there.
