016 | [Situation] Extending about 1½ Miles along the E. [East] side of the Caledonian Railwy [Railway] An extensive Reservoir, formed PrinciPally of the waters Collected from the Surrounding Moors. As it covers the Site of an extensive bog or morass it was formed at a comparatively trifling cost, the only artificial embanKment Necessary, which is at the North end, being only about 12 Chains long. An embanKment thrown across, divides it into two parts and Serves as a Road to South Cobinshaw. It belongs to the Union Canal Coy [Company] & was Constructed in 1820. |
