ST MATTHEW'S WELL St, Matthews Well 012 Close to the ancient Grave Yd. [Yard] of Roslin is a copious spring of excellent water called "St Matthews Well" This Well is situated much below the level of the village of Roslin but by means of a force pump it is made to supply the village of Roslin & neighbourhood with water. From its name & proximity to the Ancient Chapel & Grave Yd. [Yard] of Roslin one would suppose it to be what is termed holy Well where pilgrimages may have been performed. It will also be remembered that the ancient Chapel is dedicated to St. Matthew the Apostle
