012 A plain tomb stone erected in 1738 to the memory of the Covenanters who fell at Rullion Green, it peculiarly mentions the Rev. [Reverend] D. Crookshanks and Mr. A. McCormock and about 50 others whom it states were "innocently" defending themselves against the enemies of Christ's Gospel. The stone stands in a plantation on the farm of House of Muir a short distance west of the site.

012 A hollow upon the old farm of Rullion Green where a battle was fought on the 20th of November 1666 between the Covenanters and Royal troops under Dalzell of Bins, and in which the latter (700 or so in number) after fighting with a bravery peculiar to religious practice, were completely routed. The Kings troops consisted of a troop of cavalry.
