011 A heathy ridge upon the farm of Eastside and in the Pentland range. The track of an Old Path (called the Monk's Road0, wneds over it and near its summit an oblong stone (said to have been a Catholic station) yet stands called by the peasantry the Font Stone. From these religious associations the hill has probably derived its name.

011 The track of an old road which once connected the eastern district of Peebles-shire with Edinburgh. It is now almost obliterated. The hospice of a monastery once stood it for affording food and shelter to indigent wayfarers, hence, probably the name.
