011 [Situation] At the E. [East] side of Kirknewton village. [Descriptive Remarks] The ruins of an old church which had been the parish church of Kirknewton prior to the union of the two parishes of Kirknewton and East Calder which took place in 1750. The united parish being the called Kirknewton A new church was built in a central position & the old one became disused. There are but small remains of the building left and the interior is now used as a burial vault. It is surrounded by a Grave Yard which is still used as a public cemetery and is enclosed by a stone wall.
