007 | These graves lie upon the east Side of a new avenue leading to "Preston Hall" from the North & wee accidentally found during the excavation for the avenue. they are 4 in number a few feet apart and all lying in the unusual position of North & South they are from 5ft 10 to 6 ft. 2 inches long formed with rude slate stones in the shape of a modern coffin 3 of them when opened contained nothing resembling decomposed animal matter, but one had a human bone within it. They were supposed by the intelligent people of the locality to be of a very remote date . Capt. [Captain] Callender Keeps them open for the inspection of the curious |
