007 Two middling sized fields, on the farm of Southfield, the surface of which are arable, supposed to have been the property of the Nunnery at Cousland, and to have been called after St. Barthoiomew. This information is received from Mr. Pearson.
"That there was a church yard here and a bell to be seen hanging in the end of the chapel till it was carried of by some tinkers are facts supported by the testimony of some people still alive. Hence it is probable that it was a religious foundation and perhaps dedicated St. Bartholomew since there are some acres of ground to the Southward which retain the name of Bartholomew's Firlot". Sinclair's Stat. Acct. vol. 9 of. 281

Mr. Moffat
007 The Remains of a Windmill near Cousland Village, traditionally build said to have been local with the Nunnery and in all probability was erected for the use of the inmates of the said institution. The greater part of the mill has been taken away for building purposes and Mr. Pearson told me that it was almost impossible to break down the walls, they having been built with shell-lime.
