006 [Situation] About 22 chains N. [north] from Morton House. A hill on the farm of Morton Mains which commands an extensive view of the surrounding country. A tradition in the locality states that Cromwell with his army encamped partly on this hill. No remains of any military work can now be traced

006 [Situation] On Galachlaw. In the new Stat. Acct. of the County of Edinburgh is the following notice. "Right west also from "Mortonhall there is a hill called Galachlaw "which became famous as the encampment of "Oliver Cromwell in 1650 with no less than "1600 men before the battle of Dunbar."
