The site of an ancient Cha[pel] which was dedicated to St. Catherine. There is no trace or vestige now left of the building as the Mansion house of St. Catherines is built on the site of it or partly on site. The following is taken from the Stat.[statistical] Acct[account] of Edinburgh Page 7. "In ancient times there were "three places of worship in this parish, "namely one at Liberton One at St. Catherines "and one at Niddry. The remains of the Chapel "and bury-ground at St. Catherine's have long "disappeared although some persons yet alive "says Mr. Whyte remembers to have seen the chapel."
