COLINTON HOUSE | Colinton House | Revd [Reverend] L. Balfour lord Dumferline |
006 | A Large mansion house the seat and property of Lord Dumferline. it was erected in 1820, the shape of which is rectangular two storeys in height with side wings of smaller dimensions - on the whole neat and tastefully built. the park is rather limited for the size of the house, but there is a large garden situated a short distance South, which in comparison exceeds any for size in the County. I May here mention that there remains in ruins the old mansion house a short distance south of the present Mansion and which is supposed to be more than 300 years old. Was the seat of the Foulis's, on the ground floor all the apartments are arched having walls of immense thickness. It was made ruins off at the erection of the New Mansion house |
