006 A small village on the S[south] side of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Old Road about 2 miles from the former. the houses are irregularly built and are chiefly occupied by labourers. at the SW[southwest] end of the Village is a flour mill in the possession of Mr. James Smith. This village is also called Stenhouse Mills but it is said the other is the proper name now.

006 A well constructed Mansion of the Modern Style of Architecture formerly the Residence of Sir James Baird but now made into an assylum. There are now patients allowed in the building but chose belongs to the higher classes of Society who pay from one to five hundred a year each for their keeping. It is under the superintendance of Doctor Lowe of Ballgreen
