A considerably large house of modern construction the property of the Burghers, it Consists of a hall, in which the magistrates assemble for business, a ball room and several minor ones up and down stairs
TOLBOOTH (1590) [Musselburgh] Tolbooth attached is a very old old building the Tolbooth or Goal, said to have been erected from the materials of Lorretto Church, it is of Gothic and modern Construction, is about three stories high between the second and third there is a projection of hewn stone ornamented with roughly chiselled heads, at the west end stands a square tower surmounted by a tapering octagonal spire on the top of which is a Weather Cock. The Town Clock is placed in the Tower its Considered to be very old,
