[Situation] Running Northerly past the East of Fisherrow Sands
The continuation of the Rivers North & South Esk from their junction below the town of DalKeith. It flows in a northerly direction, past the town of Musselburgh, dividing it from Fisherrow, where it empties itself into the Firth of Forth. It is crossed by two stone bridges, (one of them of very remote origin & supposed to have been the worK of the Romans) connecting the towns of Fisherrow & Musselburgh. It is also spanned by a very narrow foot bridge Supported by metal pillars placed in the bed of the river, at equal distances from each other.
