A long street well paved & part macadamized extending from the end of South Bridge & that of Nicholson Street to Pleasance. The houses are mostly 5 stories high and well constructed. The north side is bounded by a wall nearly its whole length which encloses the precincts of the infirmary which is part of the ancient fortification wall of the city there are several shops along this street.
