The site of this Chapel [stood] in Niddry's Wynd [previous] chapel being removed to [where] now situated ie. Burnets [Wynd] which was about the time [that] Wynd was widened and the [---] changed to that of Street, The site of the chapel according to informants was situated a [little] north of Where Doctor Bell's [School] now stands Maitland says [---] history, On the eastern side of [---] Wynd it situated St Mary's chapel "[---] in 1504 by Elizabeth Countess of Ross and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary" A present it is the Hall of the Wrights and masons and the upper part is "occupied" [by] Musical Society who hold their WeeKly Concerts therein, This chapel appears on several maps of Edinburgh

and 1504 appears to have been founded by Elizabeth Countess
of Ross and to have been so denominated from its dedication
