Archi-episcopal Palace. This large house occupying the space between Black Friars & Todrick's Wynd at the bottom and presenting a curious turret at the exterior corner towards the Cowgate was built by James Beaton Archbishop of Glasgow uncle to Cardinal Beaton and a leading political character in the reign of James V.
