[Situation] At the NE [North East] end of Maitland Street adjoining Erskine Place. A large and handsome edifice built by public subscription [in] 1843-4 and cost about £4500. [The] interior is well fitted up with [galleries] & pews &c. Sufficient to accomodate 900 persons with seats. [There] are two ministers who officiate [---] the Revd [Reverend] D.T.K. Drummond & W. Wade whose stipends are paid [by] seat rents. There are no free [sittings] except a few for church wardens. [The] congregation is Episcopal but together with the minister the [Reverend] Drummond separated themselves [---] the jurisdiction of the Bishop of the Diocese and have since [denominated] themselves English Episcopalians as belonging to the English Episcopal Church. |
