An extensive ledge of rocks lying between North Back of Canongate and Edinburgh Prison this ledge viewed from some places is a very Conspicuous object in some places perpenpicular others over hanging, the remainder very abrupt and precipitous.

But seen from many points of view in the old town and especially from the Summit of Calton Hill, it has a Multiform and architecturally interesting aspect
