005 the ruins of an old castle, or country residence erected in 1630, its sides and gables are yet entire but its interior is void of walls or partitions. it was a rectangular building 3 stories high with an angular roof and a chimney at each end. it was entered from the east by a low square door which opened upon the base of a spiral staircase that led top the top of the house & all the intervening apartments. it is the estate of C. Ramsay Esq of Barnton.
