It appears from the information collected on the ground from the given authorities, that the site of the Battle of Pinkie encompassed a large extent of ground ranging from near the foot of the Pinkes to the farms of Falside and Carberry by Howe Mire, here the Scots came in close contact with the English. The Battle now commenced and raged with the greatest fury extending through the lands of Wallyford and Barbachlaw, until at last the Scots, were forced to fly, some towards Edinburgh and others in the direction of Dalkeith. From time to time large quantities of human
bones have been found, in the tract of land described and at present, some are finding in a quarry at the foot of Pinkie Brae Also pieces of spears, swords, Horses shoes and officers epaulettes have been found in a flat piece of land, then a moss lying immediately south of Pinkie Burn House.
