A large farm house with off [offices] and a farm of about 30 acr [acres] in exntent attached. It is evid [evidently] of ancient erection and traditi [tradition] says that Mary, Queen of Sco [Scots] resided here for a short period during her reighn. A stone in t [the ?] front wall bears the date 156 [-] with the words "Incline your ear to prayer"; there is also an inscrip [inscription] in Latin, with some armorial bea [bearing] but it is much defaced. It [is] the property of Capt. [Captain] Balfour [of] Balburnie.
