039.06 One of the largest kind of old cairns. The loose stones still retain a circular form, with a diameter of 100ft & about 20 ft in height. Two or three miles of dyke have been built from the stones of the cairn. It stands on the pinnacle of Tinto and the centre is the junction point of Symington, Wiston, Covington & Carmichael Phs[parishes] & several property boundaries
