024.14 | A good farm steading the property of Dr. Gibson of Rothsay. There does not from enquiries made in the neighbourhood of the farm appear to have been a castle here at any time. There is, upon the authority of Mr. Hamilton of Bogside a chalybeate spring on this farm - on trace 3, near the stream forming the Parish Boundary. There is not a strong taste of iron from this spring, but around the sides, and at the bottom of it, there are the appearances of the ore peculiar to chalybeate springs. It (the spring) is well known in the locality for its properties. |
