024.02 The site of the castle is well known in the immediate neighbourhood, and, when pointed out, may be recognised as an artificial mound on all sides, except that of the Avon, on which, it is steep and stands on a precipitious rocky slope covered with close wood. There are not the least remains of buildings, or foundations, to be seen on the top or around it.
