007.02 A line of Railway between Glasgow & Carlisle. The Electric telegraph is on South side. The "Glasgow & Garnkirk Section" is the original name of the line between St Rollox in Glasgow & Whifflet in Old Monkland Parish. The Section is not generally known, all on it going under the title of Cal. Ry. [Caledonian Railway] in Time Tables. The name is according to the Act of parliament, but is now recognised by Railway Officials only. The mainline from Milton in Springburn Ph [Parish] to Buchanan St Glasgow was made by the Cal. [Caledonian] Co & is known to them as the "Glasgow Extension". The Engineer of the line considers the "Extension" unnecessary as "Caledonian" would sufficiently distinguish it.
