Colliery maps Cos [Company's] Hand Bill Gavin Brown, Manager R. Rae, Factor |
006.12 | A great Coalfield 200 years in use, extending from Shettleston in the east, to Camlachie in the west, a considerable part being within the Parliamentary Boundary of Glasgow. The workings, as shewn on Examination Traces, are confined to the Boundary of the Proprietor's ground, the whole of which, has been wrought at a depth of 40 fathoms. There is a second seam being worked 40 fathoms below the first, or original workings. It is expected that it will be as productive as the first. At present there are three Pits open on the Colliery, each having names. One of them is inside the Parliamentary By [Boundary]. There is also one old Pit used for pumping out water. At Shettleston there are offices for the business of the Colliery. It is the property of J. H. Gray Esq by whom it is wrought in company with others. |
