Reid Manager of Pits James Gray, Overseer 007.06 Rows of Colliers dwelling houses one Story high, having a Provision Store & a School attached. They were Originally put up by Wilson & Shanks about 25 years ago. Reid & Stewart are the present Lessees. They are commonly called "Provanhall", The proprietor of the ground, & manager of the Pits, are indifferent whether they are termed "Rows" or not. There are at present No other Colliers' dwellings on Provanhall. The name applies as far as a house on Trace 1. 8-10 at a little distance from the Smithy on the side of the Parish Road.
