024.16 A name applied to several extensive coal-pits and a large number of houses attached to the coal fields - but as there is no defined limits to what is called "Auchenheath" it was thought the best way, as in the case of farms to confine the name to the two principal collections of tenements: that next the railway is an irregular village consisting of one storey houses, slated in good repair.
