025.14 | The lowermost of the falls of Clyde. It consists of three shelves which intersect the river of equal height making a total of about 36 feet. Over these the river is thrown with fearful force. Escaping from the deep channel below it rages among flat and broken rocks then opens out into a broad quiet sheet. In many of its features Stonebyres Linn is reckoned superior in beauty to the other falls; to this the high rocky precipices one each side, fringed with old gnarled wood, principally contribute |
