A Plain but well built place of Worship. Slated and in Good repair, erected in 1830 it has about 1500 Sittings.

025.15 Extends in a South East direction from the Parish Church.
This street is remarkable only for its narrowness and irregularity and the plentiful supply of water which it contains in times of severe drought. Perhaps this may account for the origin of its designation as being the Street or Way which led in ancient times to the Wells or Reservoir which supplied the inhabitants with water. -an indispensable necessary of life which is but sparingly supplied at different seasons in other parts of the town. and by the want of which the people often are subjected to severe privations = History of Lanark. 1834.
Since the above date there has been several houses rebuilt, and in general the houses are in good repair. 2 and 3 storeys, slated, with a few of the smaller houses thatched.
It is the principal entrance to the Town from Carlisle and the South.
