039.11 | The remains of this castle are on the East bank of the Clyde near the farm house of Lamington Mains, it appears to have been a place of great strength, and according to what the minister states, this was the principal residence of the "Laird of Lammingtoune". The wall on the South and West sides is in good preservation and about 30 feet high and strongly cemented together, and on the west side there is a stone on which is marked by raised letters E.B. 1589.
