R. Graeme Esqr. Factor
017.11 A Farm Steading, the property of His Grace the Duke of Hamilton. By the people of the Parish this steading is known as "Muttonhole", & as "Thornyhill" by the present Factors, their assistants, all written documents of recent date in the Factor's Office. Muttnhole is the original name & Thornyhill the new one. Mr Graeme's authority is, that the former (Muttonhole) is the local name, & the latter (Thornyhill) as it at present appears in writings in the Offices. As written on Examination Traces ("Muttonhole or Thornyhill") is the mode best suited to the retaining of both names, which appear to be necessary to couple.
